4mm kit 8 : Gresley GE section quint suburban set

LNER (GE section) Quint articulated set.

Designed to replace the ageing suburban stock on the GE region, 58 of these sets were built in 1925 (diagrams 76-80) with a further 16 sets (diagrams 81-85) between 1927 and 1930. From 1929, destination blinds were added to the van sides with some window changes to accomodate this. Although comprised of 3rd, 2nds and first class compartments, the seconds were down rated to 3rd in 1938 and all compartments became unclassed from 1942 until withdrawn from service in the late 50's.

The later 16 vehicles can be easily identified with a full width van section of diagram 85 replacing the narrower van in diagram 80.
